Our Editorial Policy

HealthCoach Africa exists to give people across Africa health information they can trust and act on. This policy explains who writes our content, how we check it, where our facts come from, and how we keep our guidance accurate, independent, and current.

What we stand for

The principles behind every article

Health information can change decisions, and sometimes lives. We hold our content to standards built for that responsibility.

Accuracy first

Every clinical claim is grounded in credible, current evidence. If we are not sure, we do not publish it.

Medically reviewed

Clinical content is checked by licensed pharmacists and doctors before it carries a review line.

Written for Africa

Guidance reflects the conditions, medicines, prices, and realities patients actually face on the continent.

Editorial independence

Our health guidance is never shaped by advertisers or sponsors. Commercial content is always labelled.

Kept current

Articles show when they were last updated and are revisited as evidence and guidelines change.

Compassion and clarity

We write in plain language, without judgement, so anyone can understand their health and next steps.

How content is made

From research to review to publication

Every clinical article moves through the same process before it reaches you.

1

Research

Writers gather evidence from credible medical and public health sources.

2

Write

Content is drafted in clear, plain language for a general African audience.

3

Medical review

A licensed pharmacist or doctor checks the clinical accuracy and safety.

4

Publish

The article goes live with a named writer, reviewer, and review date.

5

Update

We revisit content as guidelines, evidence, and local realities change.

Where our facts come from

Sourcing standards

We build our content on evidence, not opinion. Wherever possible we rely on:

  • Global health authorities such as the World Health Organization and the Africa CDC.
  • Nigerian and African regulators and bodies including NAFDAC, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, and the NCDC.
  • Peer-reviewed medical research and recognised clinical guidelines.
  • Reputable medical institutions and specialist professional associations.
  • Our own licensed pharmacists and clinicians, drawing on direct patient-care experience.

We attribute claims where it helps the reader, avoid sensationalism, and clearly separate established evidence from emerging or contested findings. Our content is for education and does not replace advice from a qualified health professional who knows your situation.

How we stay trustworthy

Independence, technology, and corrections

Editorial independence

Our health guidance is created independently of any advertiser, sponsor, or commercial partner. No third party can influence the clinical conclusions of an article.

Sponsored articles, partnerships, and promotional content are always clearly labelled as such and held to the same accuracy standards as our editorial content.

How we use AI

We use technology, including our AI health companion Afiya, to help research, draft, and translate content and to widen access to health information.

AI never has the final say on clinical accuracy. A qualified human writer is responsible for every article, and clinical content is checked by a licensed professional before it carries a review line.

Corrections and updates

If you spot an error or something that reads as out of date, please tell us. We investigate every report and correct or update content promptly when needed.

Each article shows a last-updated date, and clinically reviewed articles show the reviewer and review date.

Not a substitute for care

HealthCoach Africa provides general health education. It is not a diagnosis, prescription, or personal medical advice.

Always speak with a qualified pharmacist or doctor about your own symptoms, medicines, and care. In an emergency, seek medical help immediately.

Questions, corrections, or feedback?

We welcome your input. Report an error, ask a health question, or reach our team, and we will get back to you.
