Lagos Unveils “Keep-fit Lagos” Monthly Fitness Initiative

The Lagos State Sports Commission, in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye, is set to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing the physical and mental well-being of Lagos residents. The inaugural edition of the “Keep-fit Lagos” monthly aerobics program is set to kick off on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan (formerly known as the Onikan Stadium).

At the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre in Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos State Sports Commission Director-General Oluwatoyin Gafaar made an announcement about this development, highlighting the commission’s dedication to promoting the health and well-being of Lagosians. Gafaar expressed the commission’s dedication to making the monthly exercise program a resounding success, reaching every corner of the state.

The project is in perfect harmony with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S.+ agenda, which emphasises a dedication to traffic management and transportation, health and environment, education and technology, making Lagos a 21st-century economy, entertainment and tourism, security, and governance. By promoting inclusiveness and encouraging residents to embrace a healthy lifestyle, the program seeks to create a culture of physical fitness for optimal performance.

The “Keep-fit Lagos” monthly aerobics program is poised to become a staple in the lives of Lagos residents, offering a platform for individuals to come together, bond, and prioritize their physical and mental health. As the city gears up for this transformative initiative, the Lagos State Sports Commission assures the public that every effort will be made to ensure the success and widespread impact of this monthly fitness endeavor. Stay tuned for updates on the exciting launch event and the subsequent editions of “Keep-fit Lagos” as Lagos takes a giant leap towards a healthier and more active community.
