Program Scope & Priority Areas
Submitted proposals should focus on building sustainable digital ecosystems and strengthening capacity across the following core pillars:

AI & Digital Infrastructure: Deployment of AI algorithms, digital diagnostic tools, and scalable e-health frameworks tailored to resource-limited settings.

Research & Health Systems Integration: Connecting clinical trials, routine patient care, and disease surveillance data into interoperable electronic health registries.

Capacity Building & Retention: Training local scientists, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians, and digital health experts in SSA to prevent brain drain and foster regional expertise.

Eligibility & Consortium Requirements

Consortium Composition: Proposals must be submitted by a consortium comprising at least three independent legal entities.

Geographic Eligibility: At least one legal entity must be established in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country, and at least one must be established in a Sub-Saharan African country participating in the EDCTP3 Association.

Eligible Applicants: Academic institutions, research centres, healthcare facilities, non-profit organizations, and tech companies/SMEs in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Special Provision: Applicants may opt to include the EDCTP Association as the proposal coordinator to assist with administrative management and lump-sum grant coordination.
