What Is It?
Eltrombopag is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist used to raise platelet counts in chronic ITP and related conditions, by stimulating the bone marrow’s platelet-producing cells.
How Does It Work?
It mimics the natural hormone thrombopoietin, signalling the bone marrow to increase platelet production.
Who Is It Prescribed For?
Adults with chronic ITP requiring a higher maintenance dose than 25mg provides, under haematology care.
Dosage and How to Take It
